Back to School, Back to You. This is Your Routine Reset

Reset your routine with intention. Discover fall fitness tips, mindset shifts, and habit hacks to stay consistent and feel your best in this episode of Get Sculpted.

Feeling scattered after summer? You’re not broken. You’re just in transition.

This episode is your fall reset, your invitation to realign your goals, rebuild your habits, and step into this new season with intention instead of overwhelm. Because September isn’t just about backpacks and early alarms, it’s about reclaiming your rhythm.

Whether your summer was full of structure or a total free-for-all, this episode will help you shift from survival mode to sustainable momentum. No guilt. No pressure. Just small, doable steps that move you forward.

We’re walking you through exactly how to reestablish your routines, set realistic fitness goals, and build consistency that lasts, even when life gets busy again.

Here’s what we cover:

  • Why September feels like the real New Year (and how to use that energy)

  • How to reflect on your summer without guilt, and use it as fuel

  • What a fall fitness intention looks like (and how to make it stick)

  • The power of habit stacking and simple systems that reduce mental load

  • How to plan your workouts before the chaos hits

  • Why perfection is the enemy of consistency (and how to quiet the pressure)

  • How to build routines that serve your real life, not your ideal one

This isn’t a reset that burns you out by Thanksgiving. It’s a chance to reset with clarity. To recommit to the life you want. To reclaim your time, energy, and self-respect, one intention, one workout, one win at a time. Because fall isn’t the end of summer, it’s the beginning of what’s next.

So if you’re craving structure, motivation, or just a nudge in the right direction, this episode is for you.

Consistency doesn’t mean perfection. It means showing up when it’s messy.

The unedited podcast transcript for this episode of the Get Sculpted podcast follows:

Marilynn [00:00:46]: Hello everyone and welcome back to the Get Sculpted podcast. Can you believe it, ladies? We are already in the final couple of weeks of summer break. We're also hitting episode 40, so let's give a big, like, clap for that. Hello. Thank you very much. Woo. So good.

Jordanna [00:01:02]: Thank you guys. Thanks for listening.

Marilynn [00:01:04]: Ah, so exciting. But now, this time of year, we are getting organized for the kids to go back to school. We're starting to feel that shift in the air. The weather's changing, and if you're anything like me, this time of year always brings this feeling of resettling into this new rhythm and refocusing on my goals. And for some people, maybe you stayed on track this summer. For others, maybe it was total chaos all over the place. But fall can be really grounding because it brings structure and it brings a return to routine...

[Hosts discuss the feeling of "new year energy" in September, the mental reset, and the unique chance to focus on personal goals as summer ends.]

FALL FRESH START: REFLECT AND SET INTENTIONS

Marilynn [00:03:24]: Okay, so let’s dive into the idea of this fall fresh start idea and how we can be intentional. We’re stepping into this new season. Like I said, it is the perfect time to pause and reflect and think about how the summer went. Now. And we say this to our clients whenever we say to reflect. It’s not with guilt, it’s not with shame. It’s just to literally say, okay, what worked for me this summer? What did I do that felt really, really good? And then on the flip side, what didn’t quite feel aligned? And maybe what pulled me away from my habits? Because whatever you did well, you want to do more of whatever maybe didn’t go the way you wanted it. It’s time to reframe it. And like I said, don’t be hard on yourself, because that’s not going to get you anywhere...

[Hosts encourage listeners to set clear, realistic intentions for fall—think about how you want to feel, and focus on progress, not perfection.]

CREATING ROUTINES THAT ACTUALLY STICK

Tijana [00:07:06]: Well, I'm excited because I'm a very tactical person. So it’s good to know, hey, this is what I need to do. But how do you actually do it? And we always say this for our clients. I’m sure people are listening and nodding and saying, oh, yeah, I gotta get back to my routine. The summer was a little bit loosey goosey...

[The hosts break down actionable tactics: review your real-life schedule, front load priorities like shopping and food prep, and actually block out your workouts on the calendar. Tips include habit stacking, using transition times like kids’ activities, and using kitchen appliances efficiently for food prep.]

AVOIDING PERFECTIONISM: THE CONSISTENCY MINDSET

Jordanna [00:14:50]: Yeah, for sure. Because you’re gonna make all the plans in the world...And then someone’s gonna get sick and a class is gonna take over, or someone’s gonna be late, or you have to take on a project at work, or the weather is horrible and you couldn’t have done it and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, life is gonna get in the way and you’re gonna be like in the back of your head, I knew it, that this wasn’t gonna work...

[Discussion on the all-or-nothing trap, why most people sabotage themselves by taking on too much at once, and how results come from small, sustainable habits. Minimal effective dose, scaffolding, and why you should focus on attainable wins are all emphasized.]

WHAT CONSISTENCY REALLY MEANS & BUILDING YOUR 2.0 SELF

Jordanna [00:19:24]: Yes. Rewiring support. And so, like, what does consistency really mean? I would love you girls to give me your take on this. What does consistency mean to you?

Marilynn [00:19:32]: For me, it's doing the small things repeated over and over. Consistency also means giving yourself grace...

[Hosts explain that true success is about staying in the game when it gets hard, celebrating effort over perfection, and realizing that growth comes through imperfect reps and persisting, not quitting.]

RECAP & FINAL ADVICE FOR YOUR FALL ROUTINE RESET

Marilynn [00:23:08]: So good. So good. Well, here we are, ladies. We're moving into September. A new season is coming, and for everyone listening, we want you to remember that this really is such a perfect time of the year for you to reset, realign, and refocus. And notice how we didn’t say restart, because if you’ve been living this fit life, it’s just a time to reflect and see what we can continue and what we want to do a little bit better...

[Final encouragement to set a fall intention, share it for accountability, keep steps simple and sustainable, and remember that you’re in charge of who you’re becoming this season. Plus, a teaser for next week’s episode on coachability for long-term results.]
